About Me

VISTA Farm to Table Project at SUNY Delhi
I am an AmeriCorps VISTA working at SUNY Delhi. If you are unfamiliar with AmeriCorps, here is a brief overview of what I do. "VISTA" stands for "Volunteers in Service to America" and for 1 year VISTAs work at a host organization on a project relating to poverty in our communities. The job of the VISTA is to create, expand, or strengthen systems of the organization in order to increase its ability to meet goals. Some examples of how this might be done would be: developing partnerships with other agencies, creating a database of volunteers, or writing a curriculum. The project I am working on is called "From Farm to Table." Its goal is to build a more secure regional food system that supports low income farmers and provides low-income individuals access to nutritional food and education. This blog is one of the ways I hope to generate interest in this project and also to keep people updated. I will be posting what events are going on and what progress we have made. Thanks for following!
